Jesus? A great disrupter? Are you kidding me Dr. Jim?

No, I am totally serious.

Not so sure? Makes you uncomfortable to think about it? Totally disagree? What about Jesus as the great peacemaker?

Let’s see how Jesus described himself.

Jesus: The Great Disrupter

“Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I  did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.” Matthew 10:34-37

“He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.” 38-39

“And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.” Matthew 11:12

“I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am till it is accomplished! Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division. For from now on five in one house will be divided: three against two, and two against three. Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.” Luke 12:49-53

“Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.” John 18:36

Jesus said of himself that He would bring:

  • Not peace but a sword
  • Man vs. father, daughters vs. mothers, in-laws vs. in-laws, family member against family member
  • Enemies will be in the same household
  • Division
  • Rejection
  • Choice of being with me or against me
  • Violence (biastes): a forcer, energetic, using force
  • Force (harpazo): to seize, catch, pluck, pull, take by force, snatch out
  • Heavenly kingdom not of this world

Wow. Sure sounds like a massive disputer to me.

Why a Disrupter?

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12

Jesus knew exactly what the real battle is and what it takes to win it.

He knew that victory in this battle is never found at a negotiation table filled with compromise and conditions.

He knew that victory is either total or nothing.

The marketplace (business, media, arts & entertainment, government and education) continues to be dominated by the spirit of the enemy, principalities, powers and rulers guided by and/or unknowingly following the ruler of darkness.

It is past time for marketplace believers to step into our co-destiny with Jesus – to become societal disrupters.

Without argument, the vast majority of the top influencers along all five of these societal spheres of influence are NOT Kingdom disruptors. Instead they are either fully enlisted within the enemy army or vainly attempting to appease the one whose purpose is to kill, steal and destroy them and remnant of heaven on earth (John 10:10).

It is past time for marketplace believers to step into our co-destiny with Jesus – to become societal disrupters.

Toward The New Normal

Just like Jesus, it is time to:

  • Refuse to bow to any ungodly secular, financial or industry pressures that push non-Kingdom friendly agendas;
  • Pay homage to society’s expectations within entertainment, art or education that subvert a Godly standard of living;
  • Submit to man’s rituals and routines of religion or family rearing;
  • Resist political, governmental or special interest group pressure to lower our standards or behaviors so all “fit in and win”
  • Idly stand by as the enemy desperately attempts to hold onto his stolen earthly kingdom in his last days.

It is our destiny to be spiritual disruptors that shift atmospheres, relationships, homes, cities and nations by a demonstration of the power of Holy Spirit working through us into every facet of society across the globe.

No, this is NOT a call for a societal theocracy, but a shot over the bow for us to purpose to climb our mountains of influence the highest levels of leadership across all aspects of life.

  • Joseph influenced Pharaoh.
  • Nehemiah influenced Cyrus.
  • Daniel influenced Nebuchadnezzar.
  • Paul influenced the elites of the Roman palace.

It is time to move toward a heavenly upheaval on earth caused by the Kingdom coming to earth, not through any political provocation or armed military, but through our purposeful invasion into enemy territory.

It is time to be a marketplace disruptor… just like Jesus.

Our Marketplace Charge

“He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy [break (up), destroy, dissolve] the works of the devil.” 1 John 3:8

The enemy is NOT playing games and neither should we.

So if we are to become mountains shakers, atmosphere shifters, and marketplace conquerers, how do we do it?

Stay tuned. We’ve only just begun to unleash revelation on how we can all become great disrupters —— just like Jesus.
